Andrew Slessar completed his podiatry degree at Latrobe University in 2008, obtaining a Bachelor in Podiatry. Andrew is a specialist in the diagnosis, treatment and management of conditions that affect the lower limb, foot and ankle. This is often why you may hear Podiatrists being called “Foot Doctors” due to their expertise on all aspects relating to feet.
After working in podiatry clinics in Melbourne where he developed his skills in both Public and private sectors, Andrew moved to the Peninsula and started with Peninsula Foot Clinic in 2012.
Andrew is registered with the AHPRA and has a special interest in surgical techniques used in podiatry. Andrew is a qualified user of A.R.C Laser for treatment of nail fungus, and its use in the removal of warts. Andrew has attended multiple training seminars with other foot specialists, on the use of Laser in Podiatry.
Andrew is also trained in the use of extracorporeal shockwave therapy for musculoskeletal pathologies in Podiatry. The feet can often suffer from chronic overuse conditions like plantarfasciitis or heel pain which require shockwave therapy.
Andrew works primarily at Somerville and Rosebud locations of Peninsula Foot Clinic.
Andrew understands that feet are such an important part of everyday life, and a specialist in foot care may be required to keep the average person fit and active. Developing management plans for people with chronic conditions and liaising with the patients doctor is vital in ensuring foot health is maintained.
Andrew practices all aspects of podiatry, including nail surgery, orthotic therapy, and helping children with their feet.
Outside of Podiatry Andrew has a keen interest in strength and conditioning training, running and cycling. Andrew enjoys helping sportspeople with their feet, using orthotics and footwear assessment as a key part of their management plans.
